  1. Would be nice to be able to add recipient specific attachments. I guess you could add a hyperlink to the attachment if it is stored in Drive and shared properly.

Also, it would be nice to create Google Docs using Mail Merge. I guess it's just a matter of writing the appropriate Apps Script?

  2. Usually when someone needs to do this they won't have time to teach themselves apps scripts and write a script. This is a standard feature in so many applications. Email is one of the less likely data merges users will need because there are so many better ways to do it using CRM or email clients. What's more likely is merging data for name tags, envelopes, brochures, letters, thank you notes etc. I just got a subscription to Adobe InDesign because they have a data merge feature that works very well. I wasted several days messing around with Google apps scripts and it took me 2 hours start to finish with InDesign including finding, purchasing, downloading, installing, watching two tutorials, and recreating the template from scratch…

  3. For anyone interested there is also a modified version of this script that let you add a personalized images for each recipient https://mashe.hawksey.info/2019/12/send-bulk-emails-with-personalised-images-in-g-suite-using-google-apps-script/
